Dave ("Tnainc") has sent us the following tip:

I have purchased many TD3 Barrels and heads on ebay and thought I was purchasing usable unmolested pieces. I have found that the statement " Just bolt and run" does not necessarily mean that there is chrome in the bore. Or they are "Box Stock" doesn't mean they haven't had 2mm shaved off the top of the cylinder or ports have been raised or lowered or widened beyond use.

There are many ways of disguising the truth as I am sure you are aware, so I would strongly suggest - ASK MANY VERY SPECIFIC QUESTIONS.
